Welcome to RemitBeat: Why we built this
Why we built RemitBeat, what we're starting with, and how to be part of it.
RemitBeat exists for one reason: the African diaspora deserves to see the true cost of sending money home, clearly and in real time, before they send.
The problem
Billions of dollars flow home every year, and a quiet slice of it disappears into hidden exchange-rate markups. Most apps advertise "$0 fee" while earning their margin inside the rate. The result: senders genuinely can't tell what they're paying or whether they're getting a good deal.
What we do
- Compare every major provider for your corridor and amount, side by side.
- Show the markup against the live mid-market rate on every quote, the cost others hide.
- Refresh constantly, because the best provider changes by amount, corridor, and time of day.
What we're starting with
We're beginning with the corridors into Kenya, USD, EUR, and GBP to KES, across M-Pesa and bank payout. Next come rate alerts, a WhatsApp assistant for on-the-go checks, and more corridors across the continent.
Be part of it
We're building this with the diaspora, not just for it. If there's a corridor you want, a provider we're missing, or a question you'd like our research to dig into, tell us. This is just the beginning of the beat.
RemitBeat Team
Our research team analyzes remittance market data, provider behavior, and rate movements across the African corridors. We publish weekly insights to help the diaspora send more money home. Got a topic you'd like us to dig into? Send us a note.

Send $500 to Uganda with the lowest fees (2026)
